This morning I recorded 48 videos in 2 hours with the dynamic and talented Joe Pulizzi, founder of Junta42 and the Content Marketing Institute. We discussed everything from B2B Social Media and driving website traffic to the importance of an online marketing strategy. In the short time span of 2 hours, we recorded 48 videos!
Here are some tips for cranking out content when you schedule a video session:
- Devise a list of questions in advance and share it with the on camera principal (OCP) ahead of time. This will give your OCP the time to mentally prepare and review your questions.
- Before you start shooting any video, talk to your OCP regarding the length of the videos. For our shoot, the ideal length was 60 seconds, which made it simpler to record a lot of content. If the OCP is uncertain of the ideal length, it may force you to edit a lot of additional footage at a later date …which is a waste of your time as well as the OCP’s time.
- Be certain your OCP is comfortable in front of the camera and they know their stuff! You may not have to worry about these issues with an expert like Joe, but those with less expertise may call for more teaching and more downtime in the course of a shoot.
- Have a great time with it! I know the best work is done when individuals are enjoying themselves…or at least when they are not miserable. Sure, by video 30 everyone is a bit worse for the wear, but do your best to keep spirits high during the recording session.
The best part of it all? Joe was nice enough to record two podcasts with us as well! Talk about a productive morning!
What are your greatest limitations when recording videos?
