Finding Your Life Purpose: Live Your Dreams

Finding your life purpose is no easy feat. In fact many people go to their graves without ever having a life purpose. As you are reading an article on how to find your life purpose I’m sure you don’t want to die like this. Therefore, finding your life purpose is extremely important!

Setting goals that are generalised in nature won’t cut it either; things like being a better mother or father are good goals but they won’t help you find your life purpose.

So, how do I find my life purpose?

Finding Your Life Purpose Step 1

Unfortunately, millions of individuals won’t find their life purpose because they have lived somebody else’s life for as long as they can remember. Most people base their likes, dislikes and desires around somebody else’s. There are many reasons for this in our society today but the important thing for you to do is to stop this.

Start listening to yourself, not the opinions of others and what they want you to think! Life isn’t long enough to be doing things we don’t want to do.

In his excellent book ‘The 4 hour work week’ Tim Ferris talks about cultivating selective ignorance. This basically means you spend time with people who share your dreams and aspirations, and will help you fulfill your passions. Stop spending time with energy drainers that will only make you doubt yourself! This step really is one of the most effective ways to improve yourself known to man.

Finding Your Life Purpose Step 2

Now that you have completed step 1 it’s time to really ramp it up and begin developing self awareness. The best way to develop this skill is to start a daily journal. Countless numbers of successful people use a daily journal. The reason this is such a great tool is because you get to view your thoughts from a different perspective, often times triggering things in your mind you haven’t really anticipated.

The most excellent way to start writing is to write about whatever you want to. There are no rules, although legendary business philosopher Jim Rohn states you should try not to write in it too much or too little.

The final step is the most important in finding your life purpose…

Finding Your Life Purpose Step 3

“In order to have the things tomorrow others won’t you must be willing to do the things today others don’t”

This quote is very profound and sums up the final step. By now you know finding your purpose in life isn’t easy, however in order to find it you must be actively looking for it. This will also help you build self esteem incredibly fast.

By using these principles and putting them into action starting today you will reap the rewards, and before long you will find your purpose in life.
